Floating Land 09
Floating Land is a biennial site-specific outdoor sculpture symposium set within the UNESCO biosphere-listed Noosa environment. Conceived in 2001, planning has now commenced for the 5th Floating Land to be held in June 2009. The theme of climate change and rising sea levels on coastal and island communities of the Pacific Ocean will be explored by visual and performance artists, photographers, writers and musicians from Pacific Island countries, other Australian states and the Sunshine Coast region.
Lake Cootharaba, a very large lake 15 minutes north of Noosa and its village Boreen Point, are the principle venues for the Floating Land artist's workshops, installation, performances and food events.

Books 12th Edition – Back to Basics: Connected in Context
It is back to basics for books at Noosa Regional Gallery.
The 'artists' book' as a visual art genre has been explored extensively over the last 15 years in Australia and the Noosa Regional Gallery has been very active in this process by nurturing, promoting and presenting such works for 11 of these years.
The next artists' book exhibition that Noosa Regional Gallery will present is about bringing back into the spotlight, the traditional book form; the 'story' as words or images and how the cover of the book marries the two together.
