International & local talent throw some creative light on our environment
Shooting flames, Taiko drumming, flashing images on giant white banners, mysterious lanterns, and dynamic hydraulics will all be experienced during Noosa Regional Gallery’s Floating Land program, 15 – 24 June, as part of Noosa’s Longweekend celebrations.
SLOW FASHION - form, chance and the little black dress
No longer content to follow the pace of the seasons, contemporary fashion is fast and disposable – so fast that appearing ‘up to date’ has become nonsensical. A conceptual response to the dilemma of fashion’s pace has been made by QUT’s first Honours graduates in Fashion Design: Carla O’Donnell, Paula Dunlop, and Dani Klein. SLOW FASHION is the exhibition of the graduates’ sensual and, more importantly, wearable collections.
Pure Fabrication - Sculpture by Anna Eggert
What are the forces that give shape to the female body? Prominent Canberra-based artist Anna Eggert asks this question in her exhibition, Pure Fabrication - a sculptural collection of flowing, life-size evening dresses constructed from stainless steel mesh.
Leading international & local artists to be ‘guiding lights’ for our environment
From 16 to 20 June, three dynamic workshops, held by local, national and international artists, will fuel ideas and develop techniques around environmental issues as part of the Floating Land program. The workshops are open to all Australian artists and designers, including students. Held in Noosa Heads’ Lions Park, workshop participants will be brought together for a number of festive events. The results from the workshops will be on display in the park and the adjacent Woods until 24 June.
